In 1989, California introduced new environmental regulations known as AB-939. Shortly after, a group of businesses formed the South Bay Business Environmental Coalition (SBBEC) to collaborate with community leaders and achieve compliance without overwhelming business operations. This successful coalition led to the creation of the Business Environmental Coalition (BEC), an organization dedicated to giving businesses a voice in the environmental regulation process (You can read more about that here).
Originally established to help businesses navigate environmental regulations, the Business Environmental Coalition (BEC) has significantly broadened its scope. Today, we specialize in comprehensive business consulting services, including OSHA and Cal-OSHA preparation and training, Resource Recovery (RCRA), and California SB-1383 (SLCP) compliance. Our goal is to help businesses avoid fines from overreaching regulations while maintaining a commitment to sustainability.
While our focus has expanded, our commitment to environmental sustainability remains strong. We believe that sustainable practices are essential for long-term business success and community well-being. We continue to support member businesses in achieving realistic environmental standards through voluntary participation, helping to limit overregulation and its unintended consequences.
The BEC is dedicated to bridging communication between lawmakers and member businesses. We proactively engage at the community, state, and federal levels to effect change and promote true sustainability in business. Our role is to represent the voice of business and reason in discussions about environmental standards and regulations.
We are here to help your business thrive while maintaining a commitment to sustainability and regulatory compliance.
